In 2001, Samsung developed the first smartphones, Samsung SPH-I300, five years before Apple developed the iPhone (Segan, 2013). By 2006, the brand upgraded its smartphone in the development of BlackJack to align with the ever-growing popularity of the Blackberry. Then, touchscreen phones revolutionized the entire mobile phone market turning the corner for Samsung smartphones. Samsung smartphones truly began with the development of the Galaxy phones, Instinct and Omnia, in 2008 marking similarities of smartphones that are known today. However, this Java operating system of this phone was not up to par (Segan, 2013). Samsung quickly began to develop the smartphones Vibrant and Focus. Again, the Java operating system could not handle Windows systems. Finally, the brand developed numerous Galaxy phones from 2011 on with an increasingly effective operating system.
