After one and a quarter years of working experience as a configuration manager at Northrop Grumman Corporation, a leading global security company, I want to revisit the field of academics. My goal is to have a Fast Track Executive M.S. in Information Systems - IT Management (FTEMS) at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). I felt I should strive to empower and influence authentic decisions through professional and personal growth. This was after my BS in Information Systems at Strayer University, Newport News Campus in 2013. I have enjoyed every moment of my experiences; from sheet metal working, material handling, server supervision, and IT process analyst and I believe I am destined for more. My love for Information systems began at Tidewater Tech in Newport News, Virginia.

This was in the year 2008 when I was undertaking my Computer Network Management Associate of Occupational Science Degree - acquiring marketable skills in the STEM field. After this, I worked as a Tier 1 Technical Support at Cox Communications. I resolved a full range of technical customer service related problems and complaints. I helped the institution to expand its customer base by promptly and professionally gathering essential information. I also determined the appropriate steps to satisfactorily resolve customer issues. This experience gave me a cutting edge in my college internship where I was expected to initiate infrastructural partnership through ITIL processes.  In this regard, my greatest want as an IT leader is to learn to communicate and establish a connection between dynamic professionals and leaders in the IT industry. I demonstrated this desire by choosing Virginia Commonwealth University for my FTEMS.

Selection of this university was in consideration of the fact that you undertake “coaching, leadership development and fostering of skills needed to influence peers and executives” (Vcu.edu, 2013). As I have demonstrated, my career takes me from one leadership role to another and I feel I need to expand my knowledge base in analytical and organizational skills. It is my belief that I will be able to learn and contribute at the Virginia Commonwealth University that has an academically challenging but fruitful environment.
