When responding to the question regarding the Patterson business, my peers gave an excellent analysis of the question. I agree that Patterson does need to continue his partnership with book clubs in order to increase exposure for his books and his brand. Even though he does not make a huge profit off of book clubs, I support the fact that Patterson is under utilizing the book clubs, and offering incentives to members could increase sales and profits for Patterson. Further, I agree that Patterson’s writing style is both a strength and weakness for his business. Although Patterson does diversify his topics and works with a variety of authors, some consumers may particularly like only one genre of books. Therefore, I support the fact that consumers may read one of his books and shy away from purchasing others due to the style and genre of the writing.

Additionally, I think that the group gave a good analysis when responding to the different marketing strategies for Patterson. The group explained that Pietsch marketed Patterson by putting heavy exposure on the number of books released and the form in which they were released. This exposure included both press releases and Twitter marketing. This part I agree with, as Pietsch created book signings for Patterson to gain more attention for his book releases. Further, the group explained that Patterson marketed himself by surveying his own customer base and their reading habits. I also support this strategy, as conducting surveys did help Patterson market himself by making him realize that he needed to continue writing diverse genres of books since his name was not as popular as other authors.
