Our chemical engineering department has deduced that Ohio State’s current ice removal product, FrostEeze, has been causing issues with the Ohio state drivers. Two of the main concerns have been with the cheese odor emanating from the recycled cheese brine, and the current consistency of FrostEeze is causing current dispersion equipment to clog. Our chemical engineering department has been able to overcome these issues and is now offering a new alternative, named Salinica, to be the newest and most efficient ice removal system.
Currently, the competitor’s brand FrostEeze is more expensive to produce, freezes at higher temperatures, creates an acrid cheese odor that irritates drivers, and clogs dispersion equipment. The clogging of the equipment creates lost efficiency in regard to removing ice from roadways, and it wastes money on behalf of ODOT by wasting precious time and resources to unclog and fix the machinery. We have the solution that will fix monetary, time management, and complaint issues while providing exceptional and accurate service for ODOT.
Following our testing, we compiled our results compared to our competitor’s results. Of the tests completed, we calculated the cost per gallon based on brine content, as well as the freeze points based on the brine content. By lowering our freeze points we have opened the ability to increase the service coverage area by reaching into colder regions of Ohio. Also, we have created a consistency that will ensure constant delivery of the product while assuring clogged machinery will not occur. As can be seen below Salinica’s results are more favorable than FrostEeze’s in regard to a 60% increase in freeze protection with the 30% brine content, and a 32% increase in freeze protection at the 10% brine content level. FrostEeze does not have a 50% brine content; therefore, Salinica is the best choice for an ice removal system available in Ohio. Salinica’s cost is 50% less than FrostEeze.

We have offered such a low price because of the payment to haul away the older brine offered by our business competitors. The price will not fluctuate, and the cost will be set dependent on the market value of cheese brine production. Salinica will provide a decrease in spending and an increase in driver satisfaction and safety on the roadway. We are able and willing to begin production as soon as possible.
