Moving to the United States in 2008 was one of the most challenging experiences of my life. Not only did I have to leave behind my family and friends, but I also had to leave behind my country and its culture.  When I came to the United States, I did not understand the language, customs or educational system. I had to quickly adjust to the expectations of the culture in the United States while at the same time looking for work and preparing to further my education. While this experience was difficult it prepared me to enter the Touro College of Pharmacy to further my career.

Since I was fortunate enough to be able to come to the United States, I wanted to embrace the opportunities that were available to me. I realized that my educational goals were the key to these increased opportunities. To accomplish my goals, I entered a community college and began to learn English as quickly as possible. Through taking an ESL class at the community college and practicing the language every day I was able to quickly gain fluency in my second language. This allowed me to be able to begin working in this country, which allowed me to continue practicing the language and also to begin learning about American customs.

Mastering the English language opened up more opportunities for me as I began to understand and take an interest in subjects especially in science. My love of science grew throughout my educational career and I decided to pursue my Bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine. The knowledge I have gained throughout my undergraduate career has laid the foundations for me to be able to pursue a career in the pharmacy field. Entering the program within the Touro College of Pharmacy are the next steps in achieving my career goals. I am looking forward to earning my degree and continuing my education at the Touro College of Pharmacy.
