To Whom It May Concern:

My name is John Doe and I’ve had the pleasure of serving with <insert your name here> as a United States Army case manager. I have nothing but respect for <name> and would like to offer my highest recommendation for her for enrollment in the Nursing@Simmons program. Throughout my time knowing <name>, she has been essential to our health care staff. In my career, I have rarely seen someone who cares about taking care of soldiers as much as <name> does. Her goal-oriented mindset and attention to detail are second to none. Whether it was working with soldiers who lost limbs in combat to ensure they’d be able to live in a safe, accessible household, ensuring that the families of soldiers in our care knew how to properly maintain care once they left our on-site healthcare system, or finding the right specialist to serve the needs of veterans who were wounded both physically and psychologically, <name> performed all her tasks with professionalism and ease.

She is a hard worker, constantly striving to ensure that whoever she is tasked with taking care of receives the best care possible. Her goal-oriented attitude has also served him well in performing his duties, leading him to make important judgment calls when it came to making plans of care for patients and determining where they would best receive the care they needed. I would absolutely, unequivocally recommend <name> to be a future nursing student of the Nursing@Simmons online program so he can take what she’s learned working with the Army and apply her pleasant, professional attitude to caring for civilians.

Sincerely,

Name

I want to enroll in the Nursing@Simmons program because it’s exactly what I need in order to achieve my goal of being an effective care provider for enlisted soldiers, military veterans, and special needs civilians.

While I have long admired the Simmons University nursing program and its supportive staff, my military obligation prevents me from traveling to Boston to pursue an education there. However, with the flexibility that the online program offers, I would be much more readily able to complete classes, since I’d be able to fit them in at my own pace. While my career as an Army case manager does keep me busy, online courses would enable me to further my education while still doing my first love: helping people get the healthcare they need.

While I have enjoyed my time in the military, after my discharge, I would like to help start group homes for special needs adults. I have a 23-year-old son with autism, and my experience in providing effective care at home for him has been so rewarding that I would love to expand to providing care for others like him. His strength in the face of adversity is a real inspiration to me, and though I know it would be tough, the opportunity to work with other disabled individuals would bring me immense joy.

Before I transition into civilian work as a BSN prepared nurse, I’d also like to further my career in the Army Nurse Corps. My current position as a case manager is rewarding, but since I am not directly providing care, but arranging it instead, I’d like to get some more hands-on experience in order to learn how to provide more effective care for those who need it. By completing graduate studies through Simmons, I would not only enhance my own healthcare education, enabling me to achieve my eventual care goals, I would also be a good example for other Latinos I work with who are looking to climb the educational ladder. I have always been told I am ambitious and driven, and I sincerely believe that squandering an opportunity like the one the Nursing@Simmons program could provide for me would be inexcusable.
