In this scenario, a friend who is to be married within a relatively short time frame has confessed to being diagnosed with type 2 Herpes, and their fiancé doesn’t know. The implications of such a scenario are thus: The friend in question may have participated in an affair, in which case the fiancé must be notified, though less for medical reasons (in this case) than emotional ones. Additionally, if the friend in question has not participated in an affair and the disease they have contracted is, in fact, from a previous relationship, the fiancé must be notified immediately for health reasons, as it is very likely that the fiancé has been exposed to the sexually transmitted infection (STI) as well.

In this scenario, an aunt has been recommended to undergo a breast biopsy procedure for a dense mass found during an appointment with a mobile mammogram unit. The aunt is understandably concerned about this and would like to be informed. The information that should be shared with the aunt should include the several types of biopsies that can take place, depending upon what the surgeon in question recommends (American Cancer Society). There are core needle biopsies, which attempt to extract the mass using a hollowed “core” needle. There are Vacuum-assisted biopsies, which attempt to remove the aforementioned mass using vacuum power. There are direct biopsies, which do not seek to remove the entirety of the mass, but discern whether the mass is benign or malignant. Finally, there are open surgical biopsies, which attempt to remove the mass through surgical means (i.e. incision and removal). Additionally, the aunt should be informed of the relative ease, painlessness and prevalence of such procedures.

Some medical concerns regarding the use and abuse of drugs manufactured to treat erectile dysfunction include the risk of sudden drops in blood pressure that can lead to a heart attack or stroke (Peterson, 2001). The risk of taking such a medication for recreational reasons far outweighs the benefits, even from a recreational standpoint, as young men have strong and healthy erections on the whole anyways; increasing blood flow to the penis could result in a myriad of reproductive medical complications that would make any young man think twice about abusing these drugs in the future.
