Stephen, a 7-year-old child, weighs 130 lbs. He suffers from childhood obesity. Stephen is in the 2nd Grade at Childhood Elementary School. Stephen is accompanied to the Doctor’s office by his mother. Neither of Stephen’s parents is college-educated. Stephen’s favorite food is McDonald’s. His mother allows him and his brother to eat there all the time. Stephen’s mother is unaware of the dangers of the child obesity epidemic. She wants more information. Stephen is in the office for breathing issues. There are high consequences to childhood obesity (Gollust, Niederdeppe, & Barry, 2013, p.11).
