Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is a system designed to electronically store medical data for each patient. Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) is a system, using barcodes, which provides nurses with a way of checking the accuracy of a patient’s medication, the correct dosage, and the correct time of administration. EMR gives nurses and doctors access to a patient’s latest medical records without needing paper charts. EMR also facilitates the use of an eMAR system for scanning and administering medication. EMR improves more efficient workflow and greatly reduces the need for paperwork and storage of paper medical files.
