The article discusses the healthcare accreditation standards, how they are developed and the effectiveness of certain techniques in how they are utilized in the profession. The authors seek to better understand the scrutinization of standards over the years as well as the methodologies used to improve the productivity and performance of healthcare professionals. To better analyze the effectiveness of the methodologies regarding healthcare accreditation standards in the U.S. healthcare system, the authors performed empirical research. It is always a good rule of measure to examine the standards in any field, especially healthcare. As such, the purpose of the article is to inform in a systematic fashion the necessary aspects (a total of four distinctive categories) of what is working and what is not working as it relates to accreditation standards and how to create an ideal healthcare system. Moreover, in order to better understand what is working and what is not, the authors needed to investigate specific criteria such as previous studies, papers and other materials that also examined the issue.
With the methodology of the experiment, the authors first analyze prior studies then utilizing a table, note the aim of those studies, the methods used in the analysis, the findings associated, and the overall design and conclusions. Their purpose in doing this was to add supplemental data to the overarching elements of accreditation standards. In other words, the authors’ findings were created with the intent of furthering research performed previously. However, their study did discover that each circumstance is different and that prior cases only shed so much light on the parameters in the healthcare field. Essentially, the implementation of certain techniques in the field is done on a case by case basis. The article sheds necessary light on a common problem facing the healthcare field and the need for the field to know what to do to prevent it from becoming an epidemic.
