Nursing Program: Personal Statement

The past three years in this nursing program have been the most challenging yet rewarding years of my educational career. When I first entered the program, I was unsure of myself and did not know how I would complete the daunting task of finishing the program. However now that I enter my final year of the program, I am confident about my abilities to achieve my goals. I am looking forward to the challenges that I will face and have the assurance that I will be able to take on these challenges. I would like to participate in the nursing honors program to demonstrate that successes I have achieved so far in the program as well as paving the path for my career as a nurse.

My long-term goal is to become a nurse and eventually enroll in a master’s program so I can eventually become a nurse leader. The nursing honors program will assist me in achieving this goal. Through acceptance in the honors program I would demonstrate to future employers and graduate colleges that I have made exceptional progress in achieving the requirements of the BSN program. Acceptance into the honors program would demonstrate that I am willing to go above and beyond in the program to achieve my success. This will also demonstrate that I have the drive and work ethic needed to get through a master’s program. 

By becoming a member of the honors program, I would also be able to begin networking with other professionals in my field who have either gone through a master’s program or have years of experience in the field. Through this network I would begin making the connections needed to secure a position once I have graduated. The honors program would also begin to prepare me for the rigorous course of study that I would have to go through within the master’s program. My hard work throughout the BSN program demonstrates that I am ready to achieve the next step of my goals. I envision the honors program as this next step as it will prepare the groundwork for achieving my goal of being a competent professional within the field of nursing.
