A human’s right to do what he or she wants with her body is the most important thing for any human being. To take away a legal right to make a decision about their own body away from them is not only inhumane but immoral. It is understandable that the subject is an everlasting debate. There are many instances where it can be argued against pro-choice, but the situations that can place a woman in an abortion clinic vary, and above all things should not be judged. One specific example of an instance like this would be if a woman were ever to get raped, and was carrying the child of their rapist, their legal right of deciding whether or not they want the baby should be available to them.

A huge part of the reason that people are against abortion certainly has to do with religion. This is outrageous and outlandish reasoning to justify getting rid of abortion rights, but sadly many people use it for their excuse to take away the right of a woman to have control over her own body. This reasoning does not seem to bode well when it comes to rape and incest, as there are many women who suffer at the hands of these types of offenders who should not have to bare that burden.

The biggest reasoning however, would be the risk it would invoke on women if it were not legal. In a society like there is today, if abortion were made illegal then it would stand as such. Unfortunately it would become an illegal practice, but a practice nonetheless, and an unsafe one. Any medical procedure that is done behind the eyes of the law is certainly not going to have all of the correct and safe equipment. As stated by Naral Pro-Choice America, “Complications due to unsafe abortion account for approximately 13 percent of material deaths worldwide, nearly 50,000 deaths a year” (P.5). This is absolutely a contributing factor in why abortion should be legal. To have to do such an invasive procedure, shamefully, behind illegal doors would have a major impact on the psychology of a woman as well. It is a hard enough choice to make while it is legal, never mind if it weren’t.
