Collaborative software is a type of application based software that assists individuals in achieving certain objectives and or goals. The focal point of collaborative software tools is to transform the ways in which communication happens within businesses,  primarily businesses with communication challenges. As collaboration requires a cooperative element to achieve and accomplish goals, software tools that in essence aid this cooperation become viable tools in supporting the functions of project management. One such collaborative software tool that provides a systematic way of attaining goals that business people have is Calliflower.

Calliflower is a nifty collaborative software tool that includes a myriad of functions by allowing users to meet up. Essentially, users can connect using their web browser, Skype or telephones. Calliflower has the basics of what one would expect such as document storage and sharing abilities, phone keypad commands and the capability of recording calls. In addition to this, Calliflower also has three specific stages of safety measures. This ensures that individuals that are participating in the conference call or webinar are the ones that are supposed to be participating in it. Calliflower also provides the option of interactive chat, a delegate access that allows for structure of the call if the individual who organized the conference cannot make it, and it also gives both calendar and web-phone integration ("Calliflower," 2013). Calliflower can be considered to be an effective collaboration software tool as it takes much of the frustration and guesswork out of project management planning.

About 10 years ago, there were not many tools that put all of the facets of project management into one package. The workforce was very static and had to use many different tools in order to video conference, chat with fellow co-workers and share documents. Thus, the benefits of collaboration software are many as these types of tools effectively eliminated that static foundation that most, if not all businesses were utilizing. Collaboration software is providing a significant "reduc[tion in] company's operating expenses by minimizing the need for business travel. This cost savings is further enhanced by the amalgamative nature. Companies can gain access to a handful of mediums through one software provider" (Tuttle, 2011). With Calliflower, businesses undergoing globalization can connect internationally as well as domestically. This in essence takes the "sting out of international meetings" ("Calliflower," 2013).

Calliflower opens up a wide range of options such as business meeting scheduling; the capability of providing mp3 recordings of pertinent teleseminars, conference calls as well as meetings that took place on the web. Not to mention, Calliflower has a separate charity/non-profit group calling feature for those businesses that need "daily inspiration, support group calls, scripture readings, meditation calls and prayer lines" ("Calliflower," 2013). The tool is reasonably affordable also with several different plan options for the relatively small business to the large corporation that may need to have larger calls and be able to manage larger teams of individuals needing this collaboration software.

In addition to the lower expenses with regard to travel as "an employee in New York can schedule a meeting with a colleague in San Francisco and work together on a business plan [using Calliflower, for example], collaboration software [has also been shown] to increase productivity and enable workers to respond to requests or events in a swift manner" (Tuttle, 2011). Additionally, organizations are given the chance to assess candidates within a larger scope of distance from their headquarters or hiring facilities because of the capabilities that collaboration software tools such as Calliflower provide.

As society is ever evolving and technology is becoming more and more dynamic, businesses are adapting to collaborative software tools more and more. Collaborative software tools are in essence, the driving forces of 21st century project management plans and organization in businesses.
